I just wanted to show you the steps I go through to complete the final Portrait product.
All these steps need to be taken in order to have the final Yon Chung Photography signature stamp of approval. All steps are intentional toward the final product.
The final result varies depending on the my vision for the image. Just like any artists painting portraiture, every single image may or may not be different. You will find that all photographers have a distinct style. But those preferences change as the photographers learn and grow.
The original is straight out of camera. To get here, we plan our lighting, position, face expressions. She did a great job posing for me and following directions.
I look to see what needs to be changed; composition, warmth, any hair on the face, how the light is falling on the face.
The first edit is a general edit. Sometimes it's subtle, sometimes it's drastic. I fix the brightness and keep the background dark so she can pop.
The second edit is concentrated on the details such as flyaway hair, any temporary imperfections that can be retouched such as crumbs around the eyes, mouth, scratch on the face, zit, flaky lips and the bigger one would be a head/eye swaps (this takes extra time). This may take the most amount of time. You can't see much difference here as she was perfect as is but a slight cleaning was made on the face.
The third edit is giving life to the portraiture. Her face is brightened, give hair highlights even more pop! You could stop here. But YCP goes further.
Fourth and final edit is where the artists have the most fun!! Toning. Giving our subjects a beautiful space to be in. This is done with studio or outdoor portraits. It brings out a feeling to the portrait. Depending on the final product we will do a proper crop.
